The Department of Metahuman Control (DMC) recognizes the ever-increasing impact of magic on global security, stability, and the balance of power. As such, understanding its sources has been a priority of this department. This report details our findings on the origins and primary sources of magic.

• A vast, limitless space beyond our known dimensions.
• It is believed that raw magical energies flow from this void into our world, creating a naturally occurring ambient magic field.
• Harnessing directly from the Ethereal Void is treacherous and can lead to unpredictability in spell outcomes.

• Specific locations around the world where the veil between dimensions is thin.
• These locations tend to have amplified magical resonance, making them sought-after for rituals and power amplifications.

• An interdimensional space beneath our Earth, inhabited by the Avalonians.
• Acts as a major conduit for magical energy and is the most easily accessible source for modern magicians.
• While DMC cannot exert control over Avalon itself, magic can be drawn from it under proper rituals and techniques.

• Objects from bygone eras imbued with potent magic or containing knowledge of ancient spells and rites.
• Their origins are often shrouded in mystery, and their powers vary widely.

Recognizing the potential and challenges magic poses, the DMC has approved the formation of a specialized task force: The Arcane Division. This division has a dual mandate:

• Dedicated teams within the division will focus on further understanding the sources of magic, developing techniques to harness and utilize them safely, with an emphasis on Avalon due to its accessibility.

• Selected operatives will undergo rigorous training to become proficient magic users. They will be taught by internal experts, as well as external consultants where deemed necessary, to ensure the DMC has its own cadre of magical specialists.
