In 1993, Doctor Michael Tanaka, now Director of the Department of Metahuman Control (DMC)'s Science Division, established the DMC Power Classification Scale, also known as the Tanaka Scale. Despite its imperfections, as noted by Tanaka himself, the scale remains the DMC's standard for assessing metahuman abilities.

• Superhuman Strength, allowing the empowered subject to lift up to a ton without strain.
• Superhuman Durability, allowing the empowered subject's skin to be impenetrable by needles.
• Superhuman Speed, allowing the empowered subject to be able to maintain running at a speed of 32 kmh for 60 minutes.
• Shapeshifting allowing the empowered subject to be able to shapeshift into creatures that can potentially kill an unharmed human.
• Sound Generation allowing the empowered subject to be able to create noises at 130 db for 60 seconds.
• Healing, allowing the empowered subject to close surface wounds, heal contusions, or provide energy.
• Psychic Empathy, allowing the empowered subject to be able to read the emotions of others through use of their power alone.
• Telekinesis, allowing the empowered subject to be able to lift up to ten pounds and throw that amount at 104 kmh.
• Atmospheric Manipulation, allowing the empowered subject to be able to affect the weather by up to fifteen degrees within a mile radius, able to cause brief gusts of wind at 105 kmh.
• Lesser abilities than those listed are also categorized as D-Class, but all metahumans are legally considered armed and dangerous and are subject to bi-annual DMC check-ins for power measurement and other procedures.

• Superhuman Strength, allowing the empowered subject to be able to lift 1.5 to 3 tons without strain. Most car lifting metahumans are capable of this.
• Superhuman Durability, allowing the empowered subject to be able to shrug off small arms fire with no significant harm. Higher calibre weapons are known to hurt metahumans with this level of durability.
• Superhuman Speed, allowing the empowered subject to be able to maintain running at a speed of 104 kmh for 60 minutes.
• Shapeshifting allowing the empowered subject to be able to shapeshift into creatures effectively larger than humans, such as grizzly bears.
• Healing, allowing the empowered subject to repair broken bones.
• Telepathy, allowing the empowered subject to read surface thoughts, transmit and intercept telepathic messages.
• Illusion Generation, allowing the empowered subject to make the subject able to see small objects that aren't there.
• Telekinesis, allowing the empowered subject to be able to lift up to fifty pounds and throw that amount at 104 kmh.
• Pyrokinesis, allowing the empowered subject control over fire. At this level often the subject requires the fire to already be present to control.
• Cryokinesis, allowing the empowered subject the ability to generate frost over surfaces they can see, as well as mild telekinetic control over this frost.
• Flight, allowing the empowered subject to be able to fly through the air at a speed of 104 kmh for 60 minutes.
• Metahumans with these powers are subject to quarterly DMC check-ins for power measurement and additional procedures.

• Superhuman Strength, allowing the empowered subject to be able to lift up to 50 tons without strain. Most tanks used worldwide weigh around this amount.
• Superhuman Durability, allowing the empowered subject to be able to shrug off most ballistic weaponry with no significant harm. Energy weapons and tank fire are known to hurt metahumans with this level of durability.
• Superhuman Speed, allowing the empowered subject to be able to maintain running at a speed of 930 kmh for 60 minutes.
• Shapeshifting allowing the empowered subject to be able to shapeshift into creatures not native to Earth. Creatures native to Avalon follow under the B-Class umbrella. Note this rank usually excludes megafauna.
• Shapeshifting allowing the empowered subject to be able to take on the physical characteristics of any human also fall under the B-Class umbrella.
• Healing, allowing the empowered subject to cure diseases modern medicine is capable of curing.
• Mind Control, allowing the empowered subject control over the actions of others. At this level the power typically has many limitations, and most subjects are resistant to it.
• Telekinesis, allowing the empowered subject to be able to lift up to a ton and throw that amount at 104 kmh.
• Pyrokinesis, allowing the empowered subject the ability to generate and control fire at up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Cryokinesis, allowing the empowered subject the ability to create ice from the air and control it, as well as generate enough frost to cause frostbite in individuals in less than a minute's time.
• Flight, allowing the empowered subject to be able to fly through the air at a speed of 930 kmh for 60 minutes.
• B-Class metahumans must check in monthly with the DMC and are mandated to enroll in the Emergency Draft, requiring them to report for duty during hostile invasions.

• Superhuman Strength, allowing the empowered subject to be able to lift up to 800 tons without strain.
• Superhuman Durability, allowing the empowered subject to be able to shrug off most modern weapons, including tankfire, without harm. Nuclear devices and energy weapons are known to hurt metahumans with this level of durability.
• Superhuman Speed, allowing the empowered subject to be able to maintain running at a speed of Mach 7 for 60 minutes.
• Shapeshifting allowing the empowered subject to be able to shapeshift into multiple creatures at once.
• Healing, allowing the empowered subject to regenerate lost limbs and organs.
• Telekinesis, allowing the empowered subject to be able to lift up to 50 tons and throw that amount at 104 kmh.
• Illusion Generation, allowing the empowered subject to be able to create complex illusions that might even fool other senses other than visual.
• Sound Generation, allowing the empowered subject to be able to create soundwaves that can damage objects and invididuals with relative ease.
• Pyrokinesis, allowing the empowered subject the ability to generate and control fire at up to 5000 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Cryokinesis, allowing the empowered subject the ability to create ice from the air and control it, as well as freeze objects and individuals solid.
• Flight, allowing the empowered subject to be able to fly through the air at a speed of Mach 7 for 60 minutes.
• A-Class metahumans are subject to weekly check-ins with the DMC. They are also required to register for the Emergency Draft.

• Superhuman Strength, allowing the empowered subject to be able to lift at least 10000 tons without strain. Any heavier weight is also considered an S-Class power.
• Superhuman Durability, allowing the empowered subject to be able to shrug off most harm. Often subjects prove nearly impossible to kill.
• Superhuman Speed, allowing the empowered subject to be able to maintain running at 10000 kmh for 60 minutes. As of [REDACTED] 2023, only one individual has ranked this high.
• Shapeshifting allowing the empowered subject to be able to shapeshift into megafauna or other creatures of immense strength and size.
• Healing, allowing the empowered subject to be able to cure diseases modern medicine is incapable of curing.
• Time Manipulation, allowing the empowered subject to be able to move through time in any way, whether accidental or not.
• Telekinesis, allowing the empowered subject to be able to lift up to 800 tons and throw that amount at 104 kmh. Any heavier weight is also considered an S-Class power.
• Illusion Generation, allowing the empowered subject to be able to put subjects into some sort of mental prison.
• Mind Control, allowing the empowered subject to control the thoughts of others. At this rank, resistance is rare or not possible.
• Pyrokinesis, allowing the empowered subject the ability to generate and control fire at up to 8000 degrees Fahrenheit. Any hotter is also considered an S-Class power.
• Cryokinesis, allowing the empowered subject the ability to create ice from the air and control it, as well as instantly kill individuals by freezing them to death.
• Flight, allowing the empowered subject to be able to fly through the air at a speed of 10000 kmh for 60 minutes. As of [REDACTED] 2023, there is no verified subject with this rank, but the entity Jericho claims all Divers possess power at this level.
• Atmospheric Manipulation, allowing the empowered subject control over the weather in a 100 mile radius, with the ability to create wind that can damage buildings and cause mass casualties.
• S-Class metahumans must surrender to DMC custody, with some drafted into specialized divisions or contained. A minority may be terminated if deemed a significant threat. It is acknowledged that some S-Class metahumans remain undetected and operational outside DMC oversight.
