DMC File No: 0235

Subject Name: Merlin Ambrosius

Alias(es): The Great Druid, Emrys, The Magus, Dezroth

Affiliation: Avalon, King Arthur, Knights of the Round Table

First Recorded Appearance: Circa 4th Century AD

Power Tier Classification: Class S (Mythical Magician)

Abilities Summary

Class S Magic Mastery

Merlin possesses extensive knowledge and mastery of arcane arts, with expertise in transmutation, elemental manipulation, summoning, divination, and enchantments. Avalon's historical accounts claim it was his spell that granted them their enhanced physical abilities, and Merlin was able to open a portal directly from the Avalonian capital of Camelot to Bendis City during the Hive Invasion, one undetected by the DMC's arcane division.

Class S Superhuman Strength

Subject has demonstrated strength far greater than that of an ordinary Avalonian, having leapt up on top of a Hive fighter ship, torn open the cockpit, and instantly killing the pilot of the vessel with his bare hand. The DMC suspects he has used his own enhancement magic to make himself stronger than even the other Avalonians, estimating Merlin to be able to lift 100000 tons.

Class S Superhuman Durability

Like many of the Avalonians, Merlin took no damage during the Hive Invasion. The Hive's energy weapons deflected off invisible magic shields when employed against him. While he used magic to protect himself, it is the DMC's belief that his greater Avalonian strength means greater Avalonian durability as well.

Class S Time Manipulation

Historical texts suggest Merlin can move through and manipulate time, though the exact limitations of this ability remain uncertain. The DMC assumes, due to Merlin's other demonstrated abilities, there's a strong probability of this being true.

Class A Telepathy & Mind Control

Subject has demonstrated the capacity to communicate telepathically and exert influence over the minds of others. including possessing a Hive officer at long range, enabling Merlin to control his mind and send his ship crashing into another Hive ship.

Origin

Believed to be born in the late 3rd century, Merlin's precise origins remain shrouded in mystery. Historical accounts and myth intermingle, making it challenging to distinguish fact from legend. It is clear, however, that he was a central figure during the reign of King Arthur and played a pivotal role in the events of the Battle of Camlann.

History of Activity

Merlin has been involved in significant events throughout history, often in the background, shaping the course of magical and metahuman affairs. He was instrumental in establishing the realm of Avalon and has been its protector for centuries. Although his activities in recent years are sporadic, he emerges during times of great magical upheaval.

Psychological Profile

Merlin is characterized by his cunning, wisdom, and strategic mindset. Although often perceived as benevolent, his actions suggest a willingness to make morally ambiguous decisions for what he deems the “greater good”. His allegiance to Avalon and its interests often take precedence over any other affiliation.

Criminal Record

While Merlin does not have a conventional criminal record, he has been involved in events that caused significant disruptions, both magically and politically. His actions during the Battle of Camlann and other undisclosed incidents have led to loss of life and property.

DMC Status

Merlin is not bound by the Metahuman Registration Act of 1984 due to his historical and interdimensional status. He maintains an enigmatic relationship with the DMC. There have been instances of collaboration, but Merlin remains an independent entity.

Threat Level

High - Merlin's vast magical abilities combined with his unpredictable nature make him a formidable entity. His loyalty to Avalon and his capacity to manipulate events from the shadows further exacerbate the potential threat he poses.

Contingency Protocol

The DMC acknowledges the challenge of directly confronting Merlin due to his vast powers and historical significance. The current strategy revolves around surveillance, intelligence gathering, and diplomatic engagement. A specialized task force from the Arcane Division monitors his activities. In the event of a conflict, the DMC will rely on negotiations and seek alliances with other magical entities.
